In 2011 Sofie De Coninck and Danielle Theunissen heard about this new school and the need for additional help. The first visit to the school was shocking for them as the approach to education for people with disabilities in Western countries is totally different. Sofie and Danielle decided to reach out a helping hand and take action. The start of a beautiful adventure.
This is what they find:
Initially there were empty classrooms with bare walls, some tables and chairs and a board, hardly school equipment but some paper and pens, no arts and crafts supplies, a children’s playground from sand … It was clear that the funds of the Ministry for Education were minimal.
